Abstract

The internet of things (loT) is an important element for remote monitoring, supervision, and quality assurance in solar photovoltaic (PV) systems. It also increases the energy production's long-term sustainability, stability, effectiveness, operation and maintenance. In this paper, a prototype for a photovoltaic generator (PVG) using the Isofoton Is-150c/12 photovoltaic modules, Arduino UNO and three different DC/DC converters with P&O algorithm to extract the Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT). The system is developed and tested for remote monitoring systems based on the Internet of Things (loT) methodology consider low-cost. The current and voltage output of the PVG are collected using two sensors and stored in a computer. The P&O algorithm ensures the extraction of the MPPT and transferred the maximum power generated by the PVG. The system is simulated under Simulink using boost converter, buck converter, and boost-buck converter using three different duty cycles 20%., 25% and 50%. The results are compared with the experimental data obtained using the loT interface. The comparison shows a good result between the simulation and the experimental output voltage and current using the three DC/DC converters and variable duty cycle.
